How would you design the city of the future?

If you are familiar with the app Day One, you might have been asked this question. From time to time, Day One prompts you with a question to jar your blocked mind to begin writing. This was my question September 19, 2021. And so this begins.

NewCity.design is my site to explore my answer to the question above. On the day I was prompted, my reply was, “If given a blank canvas, there is so much I would do differently.” And then it hit me. Why not design “my” city of the future?

I’ve spent much of my career creating tiny bits of the built environment. I’ve also spent considerable time taking stock of the environments built around me. This is my chance to organize the images and thoughts that bounce around inside my head.
